Rate guide

What these roles actually pay, from real placements.

Not a survey, not an aggregator estimate. Aggregated ranges from placements we have actually made, across the disciplines we work in, updated twice a year.

Why this exists

Everyone negotiates rates in the dark.

A hiring manager sets a rate from last year budget and a half-remembered conversation. A consultant names a number based on what they got last time and what a friend mentioned. Both then spend three weeks discovering the other was working from bad information.

The published sources do not help much. Salary aggregators mix permanent and contract, national and metro, and rarely separate a CRA I from a Senior CRA. Consultancy surveys sample who responds rather than who gets hired.

We have something better and specific: the rates at which we have actually placed people, by discipline, seniority and market. Aggregated into ranges, scrubbed of anything traceable to a client or an individual, and honest about sample size.

How to read it honestly

  • Ranges, not points. A single number for a role across the whole US is a fiction.
  • Bill rate and pay rate shown separately, because conflating them is how both sides end up misled.
  • Metro variation called out where our sample supports it and omitted where it does not.
  • Sample size stated per role. Where we have placed four people, we say four.

Talk to someone who has done this.

Hiring for it, or looking for the work. Either conversation is welcome.
